Today, we are ten grandsons from that side of the family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On my father\u2019s side, my grandfather had two sons \u2014 and four grandsons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In total, I have 13 cousins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of us are in our 30s and 40s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Out of 13 cousins\u2026 I am the only one who chose farming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not one more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not even one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not just my family\u2019s story. This is India\u2019s story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Is No One Choosing Farming?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let us speak honestly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Farming does not generate reliable income anymore.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Input costs rise every year.<br>Market prices fluctuate.<br>Climate is unpredictable.<br>Middlemen take margins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hard work does not guarantee stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parents who struggled their whole lives in agriculture do not want their children to struggle the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No farmer says proudly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI want my son to become a farmer.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>That sentence is rarely heard now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Social status has fallen.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Farming is one of the oldest and most noble professions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet socially, it is often treated as a \u201clast option.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In many places:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Farmers struggle to find marriage alliances.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Families hesitate to give their daughters to farmers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Being a farmer is seen as inferior to a salaried job.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a painful reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A software engineer earning \u20b940,000\/month is considered \u201csettled.\u201d<br>A farmer managing 10 acres is considered \u201crisky.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What does that say about our society?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Future: Corporate Fields, Empty Villages<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If this continues, 5\u201310 years from now, you may hardly see family farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Land will slowly consolidate.<br>Corporate farming will expand.<br>Small family farms will disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Agriculture will not disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the <strong>family farmer might.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The knowledge passed from grandfather to father to son\u2026<br>The understanding of soil by touch\u2026<br>The instinct to read the wind\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is what may go extinct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Real Question<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If no farmer wants his child to farm\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Who will grow your food?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Who will protect the soil?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Who will care about biodiversity instead of quarterly profits?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Food is not software.<br>You cannot code it in a lab.<br>It comes from soil, sweat, and seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why I Still Chose Farming<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Out of 13 cousins, I chose this path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not because it is easy.<br>Not because it is profitable.<br>But because it matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I believe farming must evolve.<br>It must become respected.<br>It must become economically viable.<br>It must become aspirational again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Otherwise, the next generation will not even consider it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Wake-Up Call<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If society wants safe food, healthy soil, and rural stability, we must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support farmers directly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pay fair prices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respect the profession.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourage youth in agriculture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promote local and organic farming.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Because once family farming disappears, bringing it back will be nearly impossible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>At Hampi Organic Farms, we are not just growing fruits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are trying to keep a legacy alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the question is not whether farming will survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The question is \u2014<br><strong>Will family farmers survive?<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At Hampi Organic Farms, people often romanticize farming.
