Herbal Tea Vs True/Green Tea | Tea bags Vs Strainer | Tea Culture in Corporate world

After working in the corporate world for 22 years, I realized that drinking Tea (with Tea Bags) is a integral part of desk Job. Be it as a means of stress relief, refreshing your mind to let go the night out fatigue, or just while you gossip with friends. In fact, people have lot of tea breaks during and post appraisals to discuss who has got how much hike 🙂

I believe there can be 2 improvements to tea breaks in the corporate world,

  • Using a Strainer instead of Tea bags : Why? Tea bags emit billions of micro plastics when boiling water is poured on it. Tea bags have small amounts of plastics needed for sealing the bag with tea powder. Tea bags are commonly used in the cafeterias of the IT/BT companies and they have sneaked into our lifestyle. We need to be wary of them.

Most of the Tea Bag Brands emit billions of Micro-Plastics

The below tea infuser/strainer is from IKEA and it costs just 99 rupees. Its available online and also in stores.

How to use : We can add loose tea powder or loose herbal tea leaves into the tea infuser. Close the infuser and place in the tea cup. Add required quantity of water. Use steam to boil the water so that the tea/herbal concoction is ready in the glass

  • Drinking Herbal tea instead of regular Tea : What is Herbal Tea? It is a concoction of a herb or multiple herbs. Herbal teas are highly potent and have few common benefits like : Improving immunity, being anti-inflammatory, being high in anti-oxidants, lastly, being caffeine-free.
    • There’s other unique benefits to some leaves such as:
      • Tulsi (Holy Basil) leaves : Improves respiratory health, Powerful Adaptogen.
      • Blue Pea flower: Relaxes nerves and improves sleep quality.
      • Lemon Grass leaves : Refreshing Fragrant, Boosts digestion, Rich in Vitamin C.
      • Rose Petals : Excellent natural digestive, Aromatic and gentle, improves metabolism and promotes relaxation.
      • Moringa leaves: Highly Nutritious, rich in antioxidants, may lower blood sugar levels.
      • Periwinkle flowers: Used in cancer cure. Need to use only 3-4 flowers.
      • Betel Leaves : Helps relieve oral problems like mouth ulcers, gum infections, and toothaches.
      • Hibiscus flowers : help promote weight loss, reduce the growth of bacteria and cancer cells.
  • What is the best way to drink Herbal Teas, as there’s so many of them? Doctors like Khadir Vali suggests to drink daily 1 type of herbal tea, one herb at time and keep revolving the list. This would give you the benefit of a wide spectrum of herbs.
  • Herbal teas are Organic and grown without chemicals, Whereas regular tea produced by most manufacturers are grown by chemical means unless they claim organic.
  • At HOF, We grow all Herbs needed for Herbal Teas listed in this website and have dedicated a major portion of land for growing the herbs.
  • I genuinely believe all humans should shun the trend and choose the Herbal teas for All-round development of human health.

Thanks for being here.

Best Regards,

Seshu
